Holy Family Youth Celebrate Talent, Teamwork and Togetherness
The Nirmala School Hall witnessed a vibrant gathering of parish youth on 11 October 2026, as the Youth of Holy Family Church organised a "Cooking without Fire" Competition involving all 14 wards of the parish. The event brought together culinary creativity, teamwork and fellowship, reflecting the active involvement of young people in parish life.

Members of each ward prepared a variety of delicious dishes and presented them with remarkable creativity and attention to detail. From the preparation of food to its elegant display, the participants demonstrated teamwork, careful planning and a keen sense of presentation. The hall was filled with tempting aromas and colourful food displays, creating an atmosphere of excitement and friendly competition.

The initiative aimed not only to bring out the culinary talents of the participants but also to encourage youth involvement in parish activities, develop leadership and organisational skills, strengthen cooperation among ward members, and foster unity within the parish community. It provided a meaningful opportunity for young people to take responsibility, work together and contribute their talents to the life of the Church.

The competition was judged by Mr. Denis Rodrigues of Rodrigues Caterers, Sasthana, and Mr. Dolphy Mascarenhas of Udupi. After evaluating the dishes and their presentation, the judges announced the winners.
Winners of the Competition
• First Prize: Harady Ward
• Second Prize: Chanthar 5th Ward
• Third Prize: St. Dominic Ward

The winning wards received prizes in recognition of their performance, while all the participating wards were awarded consolation prizes in appreciation of their efforts and enthusiastic participation.
A large number of parishioners gathered to encourage the participants and support the youth. Their presence added to the enthusiasm of the occasion and reflected the parish community’s appreciation of initiatives that bring people together through creativity and collaboration.
The entire programme was organised and executed by the Youth of Holy Family Church under the leadership of Mr. Steeve Fernandes, President of the Youth. Ms. Abigail, Vice-President, served as the master of ceremonies during the valedictory function, while Mr. Kinen Lewis proposed the vote of thanks. The youth animators, Mrs. Meera Almeida, Mrs. Anthony Barnes and Mrs. Reema Banz, were present, along with the parish secretary, Mrs. Janet Furtado, on the dais. Mrs. Reema Banz played a key role in executing the programme.
The initiative was conceived by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. John Fernandes, whose encouragement inspired the youth to organise the competition. Rev. Fr. Mathias Dias, Youth Coordinator, provided guidance and assistance in bringing the programme to fruition.
The “Cooking with Fire” Competition was more than a culinary contest; it was an expression of unity, shared responsibility and active youth participation in the Church. By bringing all 14 wards together, the event strengthened fellowship and highlighted the important role young people play in building a vibrant parish community.
Holy Family Church congratulates the winning wards and thanks all the participating teams, youth leaders, animators and organisers for making the event a meaningful celebration of talent, teamwork and togetherness.
Welcome to Holy Family Church, Brahmavara.
